If The Reen had a penny for every time he's been asked that, he'd have about a Benjamin.
Born René in Laredo, Texas, he grew up answering to "Reenee" before eventually becoming The Reen— because, as he puts it, adding "the" to your name automatically makes you cooler... like The Fonz.
But the name stuck for a different reason.
The Reen doesn't just write songs—he remembers them.
Many of his ideas begin in dreams: melodies, lyrics, and moments that arrive fully formed, only to be pieced together later. What comes out the other side feels strangely familiar—like something you've heard before, but can't quite place.
Raised on 50s and 60s records, shaped by 80s pop and 90s alternative, his music doesn't belong to one era. It moves between them—blending past and present into something cinematic, like a soundtrack to a life that feels both real and imagined.
Whether performing solo or with his band, The Renegades, The Reen brings that same sense of emotion and atmosphere to the stage-turning songs into moments people carry with them long after they're over.
Because to him, music isn't just something you hear.
It's something you remember.
Get Reen'd.
